Lil Uzi Vert marked their 31st birthday with an unexpected new release, dropping the eight-track EP Maverick “Almost Forever” on July 31. The project arrived shortly after their scheduled performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago was canceled.
Festival organizers said travel complications connected to weather prevented the rapper from appearing at the original time. Lil Uzi Vert later joined Major Lazer during the group’s headlining set, giving festivalgoers a brief surprise appearance despite the earlier cancellation.
The EP includes “Maverick Intro,” “Go!,” “Poured,” “223,” “Yoko,” “Gas.Brake,” “Say It Was” and the bonus track “London.” Its unannounced release continued the artist’s history of sharing music on their birthday, including The Perfect LUV Tape in 2016.
Maverick “Almost Forever” also gave listeners new material following Lil Uzi Vert’s recent album releases and ongoing live appearances. The timing connected two separate moments for fans: a missed festival set and a new collection of songs released without advance promotion.
