During a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, Hardy opened up in detail for the first time about the 2022 bus crash near Nashville that nearly killed him and injured three others, including his photographer, tour manager, and driver. The country star – who just released his new album, Country! Country!, on Friday (September 26) – recounted how the driver, who may have suffered an aneurysm or seizure, lost control of the vehicle, causing the bus to flip multiple times and leave them trapped upside down on a hillside. “It went from being a bus to a movie set, like a bomb went off,” Hardy says. “I crawled out of the front windshield, which was busted open, and all I could think to do is try to wave people down. I did that for about 30 minutes and I could not get somebody to stop.” While everyone thankfully survived the accident – which took place three years ago this week – Hardy suffered a fractured back and serious head wound from the crash.
