Loretta Lynn’s Flood Relief Efforts Raise More Than $900K

Nearly $1 million was raised through a benefit concert organized by Loretta Lynn for middle Tennesseans suffering from the August 21, 2021 disaster that killed 20 during severe storms and extreme flash floods.

Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan and Luke Combs were among the artists who performed for “Loretta Lynn’s Friends: Hometown Rising” concert at the Grand Ole Opry House on September 13.

In addition to the artists on stage, the program also featured recorded appearances from several other country stars.

Lynn’s rallying call resulted in raising $933,000 and counting in donations and concert proceeds for the United Way of Humphreys County.

The August 21 disaster killed 20 during severe storms and extreme flash floods and left more than 500 homes affected. The proceeds will directly benefit the residents of Waverly and surrounding areas, as well as local small business.

“I’ve heard from so many friends that the show Monday night that my friends put together for our community not only raised money, but it also raised spirits after a long few weeks of loss and heartbreak,” Lynn said from her home in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
