Free After-School Program

The Bakersfield Police Activities League is offering a free After-School Program starting August 26th for children ages 6–17. A Heart for Heroes Art Camp

A Heart for Heroes Art Camp is happening Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10 AM–2 PM at the Hoffmann Hospice Grief Support Building. This free camp supports children and teens of first responders who have lost a loved one, with arts, crafts, music, games, lunch, and a snack included. Registration is required at HoffmannHospice.org/events.

Kern Adaptive Sports Fair

The 2025 Kern Adaptive Sports Fair is September 13 at 10 AM at the Dignity Health Sports Complex. Enjoy demos, resources, giveaways, and guest speaker Paralympian Matt Scott—all free to the public. 

12th Annual Kern County Run/Walk

Join the 12th Annual Kern County Run/Walk on Saturday, September 20th from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. at Riverwalk Park. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for kids ages 3-11. Cancer survivors are free. The event runs from 8 AM to 12 PM, and families can register online at www.KernCountyCancerRun.org.

Feed the Need Food Drive

The Kern County Fair and CAPK Food Bank need volunteers for the Feed the Need food drive on September 23, 2025, from 3–9 PM. Volunteers will help collect canned food donations and welcome fair visitors. For details, contact Araseli Lopez at [email protected].

Free Lunch & Learn on joint pain

Adventist Health Bakersfield is hosting a free Lunch & Learn on joint pain, Tuesday, September 30th from noon to 1 p.m. Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Timothy Galan will discuss hip and knee anatomy, common disorders, prevention, and treatments. Kern County Heart and Stroke Walk

The Kern County Heart and Stroke Walk takes place Saturday, October 11th at CSU Bakersfield. The American Heart Association is inviting the community to join in raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke. Registration is available at BakersfieldHeartWalk.com.
